After 30 years of fluoride in water and toothpaste, Dental decay is still the most prolific and second most costly community disease.

A new science based community and school fun Dental Health Skill Development Promotion like Supertooth is needed with Government, food industry, ADA and even confectionery industry backing. Prevention is potentially huge new niche market.

Almost all cavities occur between teeth and inside grooves on chewing surfaces where the brush, toothpaste, mouthwash, saliva and chewing gum, cannot reach plaque or trapped food after eating every meal or snack. Plaque changes sugar to acid, which demineralises tooth.

Few cavities occur at Gum margins where the brush and saliva have good access. Food dye can colour plaque on teeth.

Some 20% of cavities occur Between teeth where flossing skills are best to remove food or plaque

Grooves in chewing surfaces are where over 80% of cavities occur and where personal tooth care such as chewing sealant foods like cheese before eating and chewing cleansing fibre like celery after eating can best help prevent cavities

Saliva helps remove food from accessible tooth surfaces, neutralise acid and repair demineralised tooth.
Saliva needs help after every meal or snack to access between teeth and inside grooves on chewing surfaces.

The Good food friends like fresh vegetable celery silver beet etc. that are healthy and help saliva clean and protect teeth after eating, also helps distinguish between cariogenic foods that are easily trapped and hard to remove like sugar and starch that plaque changes to acid which demineralises tooth as in the egg shell and vinegar experiment in the school project.
